I figured at least my brother would get a kick out of this guy’s name. I sure did! I guess this leaves little left for the imagination on my maturity.
I was just looking at bradaho.com and saw a picture of him. He kinda looks like the kinda guy that might get pissed off at me for this. Oh well. Sorry, my fellow Brad. You can tell on me to Norm Coleman if it makes you feel better.

Pablos Mexican Restaurant Shakopee
by Brad Johnston on Jul.13, 2007, under food, local, moblog
Brandy came upon a mexican restaurant in shakopee that had a nice web site that she wanted to check it out. They had a Super Taco so I also figured it was worth checking out. It was pretty standard mexican fare as far as that goes. The staff was prompt and friendly. The only thing negative was the whopping $2.29 soda with no free refills. Brandy’s soda tab nearly matched the cost of my beer.

The Crispy Crunchy Tuna and Salmon roll is SO YUMMY. Met the wife there for lunch today. Afterwards we got a cookie and went to the Disney Store. It was a lunch hour well spent.
Pre Prince dinner at Applebees

We were a little late on the decision to go see Prince so our dinner reservations didn’t pan out as well as we hoped. Fogo de Chao had a 40 minute wait, Chevy’s apparently no longer exists, and Applebee’s had a 5 minute wait. It made the decision easy to make.

Can anyone tell me where in the Minneapolis/St Paul area I can get soft serve sherbet? Man I miss this place.
Chino Latino
by Brad Johnston on Mar.12, 2006, under food, moblog
Brandy twisted my arm this evening to go back to Chino Latino. Last time we went, the Pescado Ahumado left quite the impression with us and needed more! We were worried that it was no longer on the menu as that’s what the waiter told us last fall. But it was still on their online menu so we went for it.
I called for a reservation but they said the only available time they had was 9:30pm but could come in and get my name on the list and likely get in sooner. We arrived around 5:30pm and there was ample seating. I’m guessing they only allow so many reservations and leave plenty of room for walk-ins.
This time, they sat us downstairs which was a whole new experience from last time where we sat upstairs by the window. I almost preferred downstairs as you avoided listening to the occasional scream of a siren from an emergency vehicle trying to get around cars on the jammed Hennepin Avenue. The downstairs had plenty of seating and elbow room available. The walls were of orange fabric with a light aiming up on the wall from below to give it a cool glow.
We first ordered our drinks. Brandy got the well presented Passion Coloda and I got a Newcastle from the selection on tap.
As usual, we’re unable to decide which appetizer and entree to get so we order two appetizers and some sushi as we felt daring tonight. This would be both of our first experiences with sushi and we we’re told by a few sources that if we were going to have sushi anywhere for the first time, it should be here at Chino Latino.
First up, our Pescado Ahumado arrives. Its a giant helping of mesquite-smoked Pacific swordfish in a citrus dressing, guacamole, and pico served on a lettuce leaf and raised on a plate with tortilla chips on the bottom. It was just as delicious as we remembered it. We’re so glad they kept it on the menu as I imagine many other people are. We saw in on at least 3-4 tables as we left that evening. Unfortunately we forgot to order the guacamole on the side as Brandy is allergic to avocado. I volunteered to eat anything the guacamole touched and it was all good.
Next up was the Sesame seared Hamachi Sashimi. Brandy and I both ate our first bite at the same time. We both winced as we well had in mind we were eating raw fish but soon the taste made us forget all about that. Wow! The presentation was great too as seen in the awful photo my phone was capable of taking. I’m not sure how to describe what we ate as we’re obviously sushi newbs – all I can saw was it was quite tasty for lack of a better description.
Last up was the Tostada de Tinga. This didn’t blow me away but was alright. This had shredded lettuce, queso fresco, smokey spicy chicken, and sour cream divided by three crispy tostadas. We were also feeling pretty stuffed at this point with our previous selections so maybe that contributed to my so-so feelings toward it.
At the request of Kim, who is watching our kids along with Jon, requested either the Chipotle Salmon Roll or the Tuna Tataki. We decided to get her the Salmon roll as it came recommended by the waitress earlier when we were trying to figure out what to order for ourselves.
As always, we enjoyed ourselves at Chino Latino. Our total, for what Brandy and I consumed, came to about $55 which I think is pretty fair for our great food selections and a couple drinks.
